For this poster, I wanted to bring awareness to a problem that is seldom known. The Monarch Butterfly is endangered. I wanted to get my message across quickly by utilizing a pop culture reference a lot of people would understand, such as the classic “Space Invaders” video game. This was also a play on the title, as Monarch Butterflies are actually endangered due to urbanization and deforestation. The score of 1,914 in the top corner represented the amount of Monarch Butterflies that were left in the world when it was discovered that they were endangered a few years ago. Recent statistics have shown a steep increase in their population, but the number is still too low and the Monarch Butterfly is still in danger of extinction. I’m passionate about this cause, and I have been planting milkweed and wild flowers for the past couple years.
